Visions of angels in Bible were 'lucid dreams' claims new sleep study after 15 studied 'see angels'
Recorded Biblical angels and religious encounters may have just been lucid dreaming suggests a new sleep study that specializes in 'out of body experiences.'
Asking 30 volunteers to try to re-create a scene out of the Bible where a prophet is aided by an angel during sleep, the researchers taken from the University of California Los Angeles say the majority reported similar encounters.
But in their successful scenarios, they say it was all merely a dream.

Dreams: Recorded Biblical angels and religious encounters may have just been lucid dreaming suggests a new sleep study that claims the historic stories were merely 'out of body experiences'
The Out-Of-Body Experience Research Center in Los Angeles, which teaches how to enter and control a 'phase' of one separating from their body, according to their website, says that over four weekends, 24 of their 30 volunteers claimed to have experienced at least one lucid or half-awake dream.
During those dreams, between November 11 and December 11, they were instructed to try to separate themselves and then while consciously outside their physical body, look for angels in their home.
'If a volunteer or practitioner was able to experience the sensation of separating from the body, they were to try to find an angel in their bedroom, and then eat something in order to exactly reproduce 1 Kings 19:4-6 in the Bible...' the study explained.

Biblical relation: According to the Bible, Elijah (shown in the painting by Washington Allston) receives nourishment by an angel who wakes him in his sleep which is found in connection by the center to an out-of-body experience
The prophet and story of Elijah, who fell asleep under a tree after fleeing into the woods and prayed for death, was aided according to the Bible after an angel woke him to provide him with bread and water.
WHAT'S THE PHASE STATE?
'The essence of the Phase state (lucid dreaming and astral projection) is that a fully conscious person realizes that they are outside their physical body, which they only remember and does not feel in any way.
'Instead, they find themselves in a space that is just as real in terms of perception and structure, yet in which they experience sensations that are even more intense than those of waking reality.
'One can also walk, touch, hear, see, eat, experience joy or pain, and much more. In addition, one can now fly, walk through walls, morph into other creatures, and so forth. Compared to this, all other types of entertainment, including computer games and even drugs, look like childs play.
'However, one can use this state to achieve various practical goals, and so entertainment becomes self-development.
'For example, one may obtain information from ones sub-consciousness, travel, meet with various people (including the deceased), influence the physiology of ones body, develop creatively and artistically, fulfill desires, as well as master skills and abilities - and all this is only the tip of the iceberg!'

According to the scripture, retold by the center, Elijah takes the gifts as nourishment and then goes back to sleep.
If repeating this phenomenon was not accomplished by the volunteers, they were asked to try again.
According to the study, 15 of those 24 dreamers claim they did succeed.
Nine of those 15 say they dreamed of both an angel as well as food.
Six others said they saw only an angel.
'It can be asserted with a high degree of confidence that the majority of biblical events occurring at the threshold of sleep were the products of spontaneous lucid dreams (false awakenings),' the study concluded from these findings in their report.'When I woke a second time and was doing this, it definitely felt like something different happened,' one volunteer identified as Debbie H. reported in the study after a recorded 15 to 20 attempts.
'The vibrations were very strong and I know my breathing got heavier and deeper. I tried levitation and I got flashes of being out of my body. I thought, 'This is it,' and immediately went to look for the angel,' Debbie H claimed.
'In the corner of my bedroom, it definitely felt like it was there I asked the angel for any information, and it said it was Gabriel! It was a fairly traditional looking angel large and with wings. I then went to look for food, found an apple in the kitchen, and took a bite' she said.
Dreams: According to the study, 15 of 24 who claimed to have experienced lucid dreaming did see either an angel or food, similar to Elijah's in the Bible
Claims: Some of the study's volunteers claimed to have had 'out of body' experiences where they were walking in their homes yet were conscious of their body being at rest
Originally nearly 100 volunteers reported for the study according to its website, but most declined further involvement out of 'fear, religious objections, or other concerns.'Six of the 30 volunteers were previously experienced practitioners.Michael Raduga, who established the research center and wrote a book on the 'School of Out-of-Body Travel,' explains that the main goal in writing his book - which contains four years' worth of research on mastering the technique supporting the study - 'was to dispel the stereotype that out-of-body travel is something make-believe or exceedingly difficult.'Spokesman: Michael Raduga, who established the center along with the study, says his work is to break a stereotype that achieving an out of body experience is 'make believe' as it's reported in ancient stories
Controversy: Originally nearly 100 volunteers reported for the study but later declined further involvement out of 'fear, religious objections, or other concerns'
With the study, he worked to 'substantiate mention of lucid dreaming in the Bible' proving through his reported successful volunteers that anyone can do it.'I soon awoke in order to try to take off my headphones, but quickly realized that they actually werent there,' a described experienced practitioner identified as Michael R. explained to the center after both seeing an angel and eating food.'I focused my attention on there being an angel behind the door, and opened it abruptly. The angel wasnt there but my grandma was, sleeping on a chair. I turned my back and tried to imagine an angel being there instead of grandma, and then turned back around Now facing the room again, I still saw grandma there sleeping, but with large gray wings pressed between her back and the chair,' Michael R. retells.
Study's founder: The center on phasing is claimed to have a high success rate as well as having achieved international recognition for hitting mass contact with both UFOs and aliens in Los Angeles
'I quickly made for the kitchen and grabbed the first thing that appeared on the table: an egg and some meat. I immediately stuffed them into my mouth. The egg turned out to be hard-boiled and rotten. I almost couldnt keep it down. Nevertheless, I decided to behold an angel that was the real thing, and so I went back to my grandmother,' he said.
During Michael R.'s experience, he claims to have felt somewhat frightened by his grandmother's angelic transformation and then relaxation in completing his task, before he found himself back in his body.
Results: School of Out-of-Body Travel book by the center's founder, supports the study's goal of showing that the results were prompted not by 'external stimuli'
Mr Raduga's research center, which invites anyone to learn how to enter and control the state through provided classes, e-books and videos, claims a high success rate among its students.'...success will be had 50 per cent of the time in only 1 to 5 attempts made over the course of 1 to 3 days. The success rate jumps to 90 per cent over 20 attempts,' Mr Raduga states according to a news release.
The center additionally claims international recognition following an experiment that reached mass contact with both UFOs, or unidentified flying objects, and extra terrestrial aliens in Los Angeles, '...which provided the first experimental evidence that most alien abduction accounts stem from spontaneous out-of-body experiences.'
The study concludes that the experiences gained by their volunteers and practitioners of angels and food were caused by the individual's 'general interests or thoughts before falling asleep, and not external stimuli,' such as an actual heavenly ore religious visitation.'A comprehensive investigation of this possibly found no fact indicating that this was not the case. Indeed, nearly every indication and fact supports this conclusion,' the study concludes.

In a new exercise by a California organization that studies lucid dreaming, volunteers have been conditioned to dream near-death experiences, including the classic scenario of flying toward a light at the end of a tunnel. The researchers say their experiment demonstrates that these heavenly visions must be products of the human mind rather than supernatural phenomena.
In the sleep experiment at the Out-Of-Body Experience Research Center in Los Angeles, four groups of 10 to 20 volunteers were trained to perform a series of mental steps upon awakening during the night that might lead them to have out-of-body experiences. If able to "separate" from their bodies, they were then conditioned to try dreaming about floating through a tunnel toward a bright light. Eighteen of the volunteers said they were able to dream such an experience.
"Some of the test subjects not only succeeded in reproducing the out-of-body flight through a tunnel, but also enjoyed the ecstasy typical of the experience, and even flew all the way to the light and met their deceased relatives there," center leader Michael Raduga stated in a press release about the work, which has not been published in a peer-reviewed journal.
More than 8 million Americans have had a near-death experience, and they most often occur during states of anesthesia-induced sleep, according to the center. Prior work by neurologists, including Kevin Nelson of the University of Kentucky, suggests that NDEs are indeed generated by the same brain mechanisms that cause lucid dreams. Nelson's research shows that both types of experiences arise when part of the brain called the dorsolateral prefrontal region our "logical center," which is usually active only when we're awake becomes active during REM sleep, allowing extremely vivid dreams that seem to be happening in real life. He calls the transitional state between dreaming and wakefulness a "borderland of consciousness" and believes it is in this mixed state that lucid dreams and NDEs occur. Ads by Google
With Nelson's research in mind, Raduga designed his experiment to determine if volunteers could be coached to dream up NDEs when in the transitional phase between sleep and waking. This would demonstrate that reports of NDEs, which are commonly cited as proof of the supernatural, really are just lucid dreams.
Volunteers who successfully generated NDEs described their experiences for the researchers. One participant, identified by the center asNadezhda S., stated: "I was able to leave my body after a couple of tries. Now that I was out of my body, I wanted to see the tunnel and it immediately appeared in front of me Once I flew to the end of that tunnel I saw my deceased husband there in the spirit. We spoke for several minutes. His words, touch, bearing, and feelings were real, just like during his life. Later on, when I felt it was time to leave, I went up to the tunnel, jumped and gently landed in my body."
Nelson said conclusions from the research should be "cautiously drawn" until the findings pass the peer-review process, but they are nonetheless well-aligned with prior research on NDEs. "Lucid dreaming can be conditioned and bears an uncanny similarity to near-death," Nelson told Life's Little Mysteries. "Indeed, Raduga's study demonstrates the similarity of near-death and lucid dreaming. Evidence from many sources converges to support that lucid dreaming and near-death use similar brain mechanisms but in different circumstances."
The research may have implications for those who believe in the afterlife. "NDE, as the most trusted reason for believe in life after life, may be just the result of spontaneous and hyper-realistic lucid dreams, induced by narcosis or brain damage during dying," Raduga wrote in an email. "This means that NDEs aren't evidence of life after life."

mama-mouse, занимайтесь. Это навык, такой же... как когда-то мы учились управлять своим физическим телом. Было бы неплохо людям снова вспомнить про свое нефизическое тело и научиться им управлять.Комментарий
